ABOUT WENTZEL APIARIES

It All Started When...

The beginning of our 4th Generation Family-Owned Honey Bee Stewardship

The Wentzel name has long been associated with the highest quality honey available, dating all the way back to 1943 when Alfred Wentzel, born in 1912, decided to buy his first beehives. Alfred operated Wentzel Apiaries solely until 1974 at which time he and his son, Sanford, ran Wentzel Apiaries together. Sanford took over the business in 1985 when he was 38 years old at which time the business was roughly 800 hives. Sanford continued his father's legacy of operation through custom pollination and honey production in the Central Valley of California and grew the amount of hives to roughly 1500 when his son, Shawn, started working with him to take over. Shawn took over completely in 1998 at 24 years old and, in 2004, he and his family packed up everything and moved to Twin Bridges, Montana where he continued to operate Wentzel Apiaries until his son, Garrett began taking over in 2020.

WHERE IS YOUR HONEY FROM?

Our pure, Sainfoin varietal honey comes directly from the rugged and beautiful valleys at the base of the great Rocky Mountains. Our bees forage amongst some of the purest air, cleanest rivers, and most picturesque scenery of not only western Montana but all of North America. When you try our honey, you'll be able to taste the wildness of Montana.
